Dentures are used to replace teeth for individuals that have few or no remaining teeth. While dental implants or fixed bridges are a better solution, partials and dentures provide an affordable alternative for replacing missing teeth allowing for both a functional and cosmetically appealing smile. Also, dentures and partial dentures are an excellent solution for those who are not deemed good candidates for mini dental implants or dental implants.
Receiving Your Full or Partial Dentures
Candidates for full dentures have lost most or all their teeth. A partial denture is suitable for those who have some natural teeth remaining. Our dentists will first examine your gums and bone structure to develop a treatment plan. If you still have some remaining teeth, we will let you know if those will have to be removed. If they are healthy, then you might be a better candidate for partial dentures.
Denture treatment will require X-rays and other digital images of the gums. Next, impressions are taken for your dentures and sent to the lab where your restoration is fabricated. Our dentists will also discuss the appearance of the teeth with you. Once the new denture is completed, we will teach you how to insert the denture and make any adjustments needed to create the optimal fit. The new denture may feel a little awkward in the beginning so we will discuss what you should expect and care of your dentures as you become more comfortable.
If you have a missing tooth or teeth and feel that full or partial dentures may be an option of you, please give us a call. We would be happy to go over any information and look forward to seeing you in our office!
